Crown: Rolex adapted its water-resistant, screw-down crown design from the 1920s — which used a gasket and a receiving tube housed within the watch case — for use on the Submariner. The Twinlock system made use of two O-rings for a water-resistant seal, while the more modern Triplock system from the 1970s uses an additional O-ring. Oct 25, 2010.
