The job lot box contained a complete '43 178, with the exception of a couple of movement parts. My complete movement matched the original exactly, and between the two I have a great working original period correct Venus 170. The case, dial, hands, etc. are all 178 originals as well. _________________. Dave. It seems like good ref. 178s are kind of hard to come by. From my cursory research the serial would put this watch in the early 40's, prior to when they started marking the bridge. The dial is really difficult to photograph, but was easier without the crystal/bezel.
Breitling’s pusher spring design is quite clever. Out of curiosity, what are you using to clean the movement (before the typical US bath) and what are you using to clean the dial?

I believe the Breitling ref 178 (two register up/down dial) from the 1940s was fitted with the Venus 170 movement.
